  1. I don’t talk on the phone while riding, but (a) there is a difference between biking while distracted and driving while distracted; and (b) the California cell phone law proposes a jaw dropping $455 fine, regardless of bike vs car vs truck vs SUV use.

Enjoyed this weeks podcast and I have a few comments

    1) I have a bike Friday for travel and recently flew on Southwest to Florida. No cost at all since it counts as one of the 2 free suitcases you can check on SW. You do have to make sure you do not exceed the 50lb limit. I weighed it before i left and took some tools out to get the weight to 48 lb

2)I think the new Google Maps bike option is great. I use Microsoft Streets all the time for route planning and find then Google app works as well or better.

  3. If we’re (cyclists) bound by the rules of the road, then not talking on the phone while riding makes sense. There is enough animosity between motorists and cyclists that we don’t need more motorist hostility toward cyclists because we’re talking on our phones.

That being said, there are still WAY too many motorists still talking on their phones while driving here in California.
