Clarification on Frankie Andreu Story in Show #33
Sep 14th, 2006 | By Fredcaster | Category: General, PodcastsI received an email today from listener John who wanted to point out that I made a mistake in my reporting of the facts of the Frankie Andreu EPO story in Show #33. John pointed out that I incorrectly stated that Frankie and another teammate on the 1999 U.S. Postal Service team used EPO “several times during the race” (meaning the Tour de France). That is not correct, and I regret and apologize for the misstatement.
The correct statement is that Frankie has admitted to using EPO leading up to the race.
This wasn’t intentional, it was just a misstatement pure and simple. I will be certain to also correct this at the very beginning of the next show for those listeners who may not visit the web site on a regular basis.
My thanks to listener John for pointing out this misstatement of the facts.
David,
I just subscribed and having listened to several of your casts in recent weeks, I wanted to give some constructive critisism.
I would suggest that you begin to bring in some interviews. Some expert insight beyond your sphere of knowledge would be great. Listening to you read the news for an hour is getting old.
Plus, could you please quit saying “actually” – you are rarely contradicting an earlier statement, mearly emphasising that what you are saying is true. I would assume most statements you make are true.
Shorten the names of rides once you have said them “Vuelta”, TDF, Giro, – by the third time it appears to be time filler.
The request to vote? Why? is there money involved?
I subscribe and enjoy cycle news and views, Bikelove and Bikescape, you may want to copy some of these framework.
Now for some props, I know doing this is grueling, and I admire you for being so consistent. No other caster is as regular as you are.
The notes from around the US on rides is a nice bonus. Feturing these notes would be a nice addition.
I am going on the Cheat Mountain Challenge in Snowshoe WVa this weekend and I will send some details. Last 6 miles all uphill – should be a hoot.
