THE FREDCAST CYCLING PODCAST
EPISODE 114
February 9, 2009
This week’s episode of The FredCast features an interview with author Jennifer Sage about her new eBook Keep It Real, and with Martha Van Inwegen about Action Wipes. In addition to the interview, there’s a full slate of news including Great Britain’s cycling secret weapon, a product recall from Mavic, Tour of Qatar, Nuns Who Need Bike Mechanics, and more.
This week’s show is sponsored by Audible, Keep it Real by Jennifer Sage, and listeners like you. Thank you for your donations.
So, here goes . . .
Have you given your bike a name? If so, what’s the name and why did you choose it?
My red Colnago C40 is named Cole. To be more accurate, the little guy painted on the top tube is Cole (I’ll post a photo when I get home – UPDATE: Cole’s photo has now been added to this post).
Okay, now it’s your turn. Can’t wait to hear the names and the stories.
UPDATE: Great minds seem to think alike, because just three days after I posted this, the same question was asked by KarlOnSea on his own blog. Check it out too.
EPISODE 113
February 1, 2009
This week’s episode of The FredCast features an interview with author David Rowe in which we discuss his new eBook, The Ride of Your Life. In addition to the interview, there’s a full slate of news including product recalls from Clif Bar, Isaac Bicycles and Merida, economic woes hitting major cycling events, listener comments and more.
This week’s show is sponsored by listeners like you. Thank you for your donations.
This week’s episode of The FredCast will feature an interview with long distance cyclist and author David Rowe as part of his virtual book tour for his new eBook, The Ride of Your Life. The eBook provides guidance to sport-recreational road cyclists on how to choose smart goals and then apply the author’s unique process for achieving them. The eBook was released January 8 by RoadBikeRider.com, and went straight to the top of its best-seller chart.
A virtual book tour is when an author visits websites, blogs, and podcasts instead of bookstores, cafés, radio and TV shows that a traditional brick-and-mortar tour would include. During each stop of the Ride of Your Life eTour, Rowe will discuss how riders can prepare mentally for completing rides of 100 or more miles in a single day. He will also describe his experiences riding some of the great long distance events held in the Pacific Northwest, including the Cascade 1200, the Rocky Mountain 1200, and the Portland to Glacier 1000.
In addition to his new eBook and virtual book tour, David Rowe is collecting stories from readers who overcame physical, mental, or equipment challenges to finish a challenging ride. He is going to publish a compilation of the best stories in a forthcoming eBook, which he will make available free in the Spring of this year. Riders’ whose stories are selected for publication will win a free eBook.
