How to Listen

What is a podcast?
A podcast is like a radio or TV show, except on the internet. It is an audio or video program that is available for download, streaming, and subscribing. Most podcasts are released as mp3 files or in other audio formats that can be easily downloaded to your computer or portable audio player (iPod, Zune, etc.)

How do I listen to a podcast?
There are several ways to listen to a podcast. Here a few ways to listen to The FredCast Cycling Podcast:

Subscribe via iTunes
Apple’s iTunes media player is available for Macs and PCs and is the easiest way to find, subscribe and listen to podcasts such as The FredCast. Apple offers excellent instructions for Mac or Windows.

Stream via Web Site
If you like, you can listen to The FredCast right from web page. Every podcast post includes a line looks like this:

Click on the triangle and the it will expand into a player that will begin playing the podcast and look like this:

Download to Your Computer
You can choose to download The FredCast straight to your computer so that you can listen to it at a later date. To do so, simply right-click where it says “Listen to and/or Download the MP3” “Download Linked File As . . . ” (on a PC) or “Save Link As . . .” (on a Mac). The file will download to your computer’s hard drive. Once the download is complete, click the file and you can listen to the podcast.

Other Methods
There are other methods that you can use to subscribe or listen to The FredCast including Real Player, Windows Media Player, other Podcatchers, and RSS Feeds, but the above instructions should provide all you need to begin listening to and enjoying The FredCast and other audio and video podcasts.
