New Poll: Do You Ride with an iPod?
Mar 31st, 2007 | By Fredcaster | Category: GeneralScroll down a bit and check out the new poll on the right-hand side of the page. Here’s the question: How often do you use an iPod (or other listening device) on your rides?
I’ll be interested to see the results.
By the way, here are the results of the last poll which asked, How Often Do You Wear a Helmet?
On Every Ride – 582 Votes
On Some Rides – 22 Votes
Rarely – 6 Votes
Never – 11 Votes
For some reason, I couldn’t select any of the choices in the poll. David, I really liked your response about this subject in your last show. I listen to my ipod when I ride, but only when I ride alone. In addition to safety, I think it’s rude to rude with others while you’re listening to tunes.
I only use an “ipod” when not riding on the road. Traffic can be a real killer if you don’t hear a car coming up behind you. Even with mirrors and my full attention, I can be surprised when a car passes too close. Not being able to hear is too dangerous.
I know I shouldn’t, but I am hooked on podcasts. I listen to the Fredcast and Fresh Air as well as This American life during my commute.
But I make up good lies for why it’s OK.
I commute on MUPs at very early and late hours, so I don’t see many people.
I listen to talking and not loud music, so I can hear the outside world.
I’m offsetting my evil iPod use by commuting and not polluting.
So, don’t tell on me, OK?
