This week’s show is sponsored by JensonUSA, Epic Planet, and by listeners like you Thank you for your donations!

This week’s episode of The FredCast Cycling Podcast features a discussion of Sports Illustrated’s ‘Case Against Lance Armstrong.’ Perhaps in contrast, the show also includes information that the Spanish Cycling Federation has recommended a one year suspension for Alberto Contador as a result of his positive Clenbuterol test during the 2010 Tour de France. This will inevitably lead to the awarding of the Tour victory to Andy Schleck, formerly of Saxo Bank now with Leopard-Trek Team.

Also in this week’s show: AVG study shows that kids learn computer skills before the ability to ride a bike, tie shoes or perform other ‘life skills.’ The White Sands Missile Range will be open to cyclists for one day only, a NASA Astronaut loses a spot on shuttle mission due to bike accident, bike thieves target the Australian Open, Dallas Police replace 10-year-old’s stolen bike, Carla Swart killed in a tragic accident, and Floyd Landis retires (yawn).

  1. Thanks so much for playing “Watch the World Go By”! I hope listeners enjoy it.
All the best to you & have a great weekend!
    Annie

  2. I actually like this microphone. Lots of presence if a bit tinny. The usual audio has a tubby sound to it.

  3. Tubby? Who you calling tubby? 😉

But seriously, I am interested in your comment about the usual audio. Can you define ‘tubby?’ Perhaps it is time for me to invest in a new mic, mixer, compressor or some other cool piece of audio electronics.

  4. On a 3-band EQ, you turn up the bass and the mids and cut the higs. Add a little reverb and it sounds like you’re recording from a bathtub. When I say tubby, it’s not as bad as that, I just mean by comparison. I’m not sure what mic you use, but changing that will likely make the most difference. Beyond that, you’ll have to consult with someone who knows what they’re talking about!

I love the show, keep up the great work.

  5. Okay, Dave. Time for me to look at new mics. Anyone wanna pitch in for a Heil PR40?

  6. First listen to me – great stuff, although I’m afraid I wasn’t riding at the time but cooking a lasagne!
You may have already talked about this, but i’d like to hear your views on dopers and their comebacks – some make it straight back while others languish in the lower divisions and never get their career back (I think the second option is the only real chance of cutting out the dopers)

  7. I second that. I actually like the sound better with the higher treble – usually works better with voice recordings anyway Ive found. When I’m out riding in traffic and listening on (one) headphones, its easier to hear over the lower pitched background noise. By the way, thanks David for the hundreds of hours of cycling news I’ve gotten down here in Curitiba, Brazil.
