David,
A agree wholehartedly with your opinion about the “Best Of” lists.
Skip them.
Joe
David,
I enjoy both this show (The Fredcast) and The Spokesmen very much! I must agree as well. I do not find the Best Of Lists helpful. As far as I’m concerned they are meaningless filler.
Thank You,
Jeff
Thanks for your input, Joe and Jeff. I appreciate it. So far the feedback I’ve received agrees with you 100%, although one person took me to task for calling out Chicago and invited me to come ride there.
David
David–thanks for your terrific podcast. I heard you mention that you had been a volunteer for the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department. I had a first cousin who was killed while riding his bike near there. We were kept apart as children because of family differences and I had only just begun to get to know him right before he died. In the short time we knew each other, we found we had a lot in common. I have become an avid cyclist and wish I knew more about him. There is an annual criterion named after him–just wondering if you knew him at all? His name was Chuck Pontius.

Oops! Sorry for posting that twice!
Thanks for your email and the kind things you’ve said about the podcast, Allison.
I am aware of the criterium and trail named in Chuck’s honor, but while his name sounds familiar I don’t specifically recall meeting or riding with Chuck. Any time a cyclist is injured or killed on the road it affects each of us, but considering your family history and the fact that you were just getting to know him, I am sure this was devastating for you. While you can’t ride along with him, I think it is wonderful that you’ve become an avid cyclist and in some ways I am sure that gives you comfort and honors his memory.
Thanks again for listening and for sharing Chuck’s story with me.
