  1. David,

Many thanks for including my thoughts in the ‘podcast.
Is there any way of being able to download other peoples responces?

  2. Dave,

My pleasure. Thanks for your comments.

All of the usable comments were put into the show, so I’m not sure what you mean. If they were audible and I could clean up the background noise I used them. If not, I couldn’t (although everyone who sent something was still entered into the contest).

    David

  3. Listener Andy? Listener Andy’s comments were, among those that were highly articulated, those that I found least constructive. How does it help cycling to abandon the cyclists to the wolves, be they innocent or guilty. I got the impression that Andy formed his opinion by reading headlines. I think that podcaster Eric, who told the story about the cyclist who was found guilty of testosterone doping, had his career ruined, and then several years later got a small article in the back of the newspaper exonerating him, had the most constructive comments. By the way, couldn’t Andy’s fawning over you and the Fredcast have been edited out. What was the point of that? We all like the Fredcast.

  4. Andy was chosen randomly from among the entries (I did the old pieces of paper in a hat routine).

As for his fawning, I have to be honest and say that nearly every audio comment had some form of that or another. I left in one (Andy’s) and edited out the others.

Also, for the record, I edited together all of the audio comments BEFORE I actually chose a winner.

And I was also particularly struck by the comment about the cyclist who was found guilty and then later exonerated (albeit in an article hidden in the back of a newspaper). The media does tend to only focus on the most negative aspects of society. Good news rarely makes it to the front page.

  5. David,

My audio reply rammbled on for a bit and you did a very good job of extracting the interesting part…

I was wondering if the others were available in their ‘full’ form?

If anyone is interested my full reply is here for download:

  6. Sorry, but I didn’t keep all of the comments after they were edited together. Most didn’t require a great deal of editing other than to remove the commenter’s name, email address or comments intended solely for me and not for the rest of the audience.

  7. Excellent episode. It was good to hear other opinions about the whole landis/doping thing. Though I too am somewhat tired of hearing all about it…I’m really now just interested in the outcome.
