  1. You can also get live streaming of the ABC Radio coverage during the stages: http://www.abc.net.au/adelaide/onair/891stream.asx (not sure if it works outside Australia or not).

  2. I DO like Remember to Forget by the Watermarks! Thank you for that and all the great info as always. Happy 2010 Fredcast!

  3. Are you willing to get resume writing, which suit the area of research you expect?. You can rely on our resume writers, as you trust yourself. Thanks because it is the interesting

  4. Thanks for the discussion around use of earbuds and MP3 players while riding in traffic. I confess that I do, but keep the volume at a level that I can’t hear anything through them at speeds above about 18mph. I’m surprised that no comment was made about the wind noise that occurs when going faster (like downhill). I find it is quite annoying to hear that roar, and feel especially keen to watch the road, whatever else is ahead, as well as my rear view mirror..

Bottom line, the wind noise at higher speeds is loader than I can comfortably listen to podcasts or music when at 0 mph, so having earbuds isn’t a factor.

    thanks

  5. Thanks for interesting podcast. I look forward to listening to the discussion on ear buds/phones and intend to listen to it with my ear buds, while cycling.

When someone tells me it’s not safe, I worry for their hearing. Is louder than cars the only way they listen?

  6. If you’ve ever used headphones on a ride, you’ll know that you can still hear the cars. If you believe that headphones are impairing your actions regarding cars coming from behind, you posses a sense that I do not.
Now if you are on pathways, it is not a good idea because what you are trying to hear is different (other cyclist/people) And yes, you should not be wearing them on group rides as you are not able to hear the chatter of the group.
Why wear them? Music has a known performance enhancement. Add subliminal to this and it goes further. When I am on a focused hard tempo ride, the music pushes the time in zone up. And if I am out on a lonely stretch of gravel for 8-10 hrs, the music is a huge difference.
Also, the type of buds make a big difference in amount of road/wind noise.
Does it make cyclist look bad to drivers? Sure does, but give up on the auto culture understanding cycling or even tolerating. Riding with buds isn’t going to make a difference.
